The ‘Galaxy’ line is surely living up to its namesake, with a bevy of new phones and devices dropping every quarter. Samsung’s “can’t stop, won’t stop” efforts have helped boost the company to become the world’s #1 smartphone manufacturer. Next up is the Samsung Galaxy MEGA, the 6.3″ screen behemoth that even made my eyes get as big as saucers.
This absolute goliath of a phone is sure to please those always complaining of tiny screen resolutions and not enough finger space. The phablet, to be released this Friday on August 23rd on AT&T, has some pretty decent character. Check out the specs and device pics below:
Samsung Galaxy MEGA
- 720 x 1280 resolution
- 223 ppi
- 6.3″ “Super Clear” LCD Display
- Dual -Core 1.7 GHz Snapdragon 400 Processor
- 8MB onboard storage, with 64 GB capacity microSD slot
- 3200 mAh battery (not bad, definitely needs the juice!)
- 8 MP rear facing cam, 1.9 MP front facing cam
- Android 4.2.2 (JellyBean)
Pre-orders began on August 16th so if you have not done so already, you might as well head on over to your local AT&T outlet tomorrow and pick up this doozy. The good news is AT&T is bringing this phone as a part of their new “AT&T Next” program which allows you to get the phone with no down payment or additional fees. After 12 months you can trade your phone (or phablet) in for a brand new device with no down payment. If you’re looking for a good mid-range phone, you’ll be pleased with this for sure. The Galaxy MEGA will cost $149.99 with two-year contract (or $24/month using the AT&T next program).
Here’s a quick video explaining the native Samsung features of the MEGA phone (I almost said Megatron…):
